Melissa McCarthy Frustrated With Plus Size ‘Segregation': Women Don’t Stop At Size 12

Go, Melissa McCarthy! The ‘Spy’ actress has no time for body shaming and she’s calling out, in her opinion, one of the biggest shamers of them all in a new interview: malls!

Melissa McCarthy, 44, is one of Hollywood’s funniest actresses, but what she’s got to say about the real struggle for women shopping in today’s culture is dead serious. With her latest clothing line debuting in August, women will be able to feel GOOD about themselves while looking fabulous, something she says hasn’t been happening in stores in far too long.

Melissa McCarthy’s Plus-Size Clothing Line: More Sizes For More Women

“People don’t stop at size 12. I feel like there’s a big thing missing where you can’t dress to your mood above a certain number. [Malls] segregate plus-size,” McCarthy told More in the June 2015 edtion. “It’s an odd thing that you can’t go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs hidden by the tire section. ‘We’ll put you gals over there because we don’t want to see you and you probably don’t want to be seen.”
Well said, Miss McCarthy! And what a great way to kick off the promotion of her fashion line, which will include sizes from 4 through 28. It’s a passion project that Melissa is highly involved in, every step of the way.
“The initial thought was, I may or may not go to meetings. And then I started delivering drawings and saying, ‘No, this is the length, this is the arm measurement,’ and they were like, ‘Um, we kinda didn’t think you’d be here.’” McCarthy reveals. “I just figure if it has my name on it and I want to make people feel good about wearing it, I can’t pass it off.” A woman of quality!

Melissa McCarthy Drops Over 50 Lbs, Looks Glam In ‘Spy’ Red Carpet Pics

Will you buy her clothes?
During the red carpet of Melissa’s film, Spy, we were blown away by how beautiful Melissa looked. She has dropped over 50 lbs and looks better than ever. While we know she is working hard on her body, she’s doesn’t care about dieting. “I could eat healthier, I could drink less,” she opened up. “I should be learning another language and working out more, but I’m just always saying, ‘Ah, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow.’”
We are excited about her new line. What a positive and inspiring project for Melissa to create for others. We know it will help out so many women get that extra confidence they need. HollywoodLifers, what are your thoughts on her new clothing line?
